How to make fabric gift bags

The holidays are quickly approaching, and that means packaging gifts. For some, wrapping paper is the only way to go. Ribbons and bows tied around shiny paper spells Christmas. For others, gift bags are the solution because they're easy and reusable.
Laura Ann Coia teaches her YouTube viewers how to make cloth gift bags. Her channel, Sew Very Easy, puts out two videos a week, one on Tuesday and one on Thursday, giving viewers tips on sewing. She puts her 45 years of sewing to use as she walks people through creative uses of material. Her tutorial video below walks viewers through the steps of creating beautiful fabric gift bags.​

The items you need for this project are fabric, Soft and Stable and a paper gift bag that has handles you can reuse. You will be using the handles from the paper gift bag for your fabric bag. You will also be cutting the paper bag to create the pattern for your fabric bag. The Soft and Stable is the lining that gives the bag structure. You can use two different materials and make the bag reversible if you want or simply have the bag be one-sided.

Coia points out that although paper gift bags can be reused, making cloth bags almost ensures that the bag will be regifted. The bags are simple to make, yet they add a personal touch to each gift and a little bit of elegance.
